Job Summary
This position reports to the Provincial Director of Professional Practice - Allied Health. The Provincial Professional Practice Consultant ? Occupational Therapy is a member of a dynamic team of Provincial Practice Consultants for Allied Health including Dietitians, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Speech Language Pathology, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy and Psychology.

The Provincial Professional Practice Consultant ? Occupational Therapy is responsible for the professional integrity of Occupational Therapy Services throughout NL Health Services. This position is the expert for the Occupational Therapy and is accountable for monitoring adherence to professional practice standard, code of ethics and ensuring Occupational Therapy staff competencies. This position plays a pivotal role providing direction to all levels of the organization in matters pertaining to the practice of Occupational Therapy. The position works collaboratively with professional associations, academic institutions, community partners and other key stakeholders external to NL Health Services to promote best practice and safe quality Occupational Therapy services in all 5 zones of the NL Health Services. The Provincial PPC will be responsible for the oversight of OT Professional practice standards, scopes of practice, code of ethics and best practice.

This position is responsible for the development, maintenance and evaluation of systems and structures that support and monitor professional practice through a Professional Practice Model, including participating in the development of an overall strategic plan for Occupational therapy across the 5 Zones of NL Health Services The Provincial Professional Practice Consultant ? Occupational Therapy will build respectful and collaborative relationships throughout the organization to ensure client-centered care and best practices. This position works closely with Occupational Therapy staff leading provincial leadership and communities of practice. The Provincial Professional Practice Consultant ? Occupational Therapy fosters strong relationships with people managers across the organization. NL Health services wide Occupational Therapy quality initiatives are the responsibility of this position including audits and practice guideline development, clinical documentation, research, resource allocation, outcome measures, advancing practice and scopes of practice. Leadership and expertise are provided to councils, committees, interdisciplinary projects and working groups.

Job Qualifications

Education
Graduate of a school or program of occupational therapy recognized by the board.

Current licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Therapy Board.

Master?s degree in a healthcare related field is required.
LEAN apprentice (yellow belt) is preferred.

Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive clinical and professional leadership experience in Occupational Therapy

Previous management experience is an asset

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Strong knowledge of Occupational Therapy Professional Standards, competencies and leading practices

Demonstrated progressive clinical, management and leadership experience with focus on qualify patient/resident/client/care

Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining effective partnerships

Demonstrated excellent oral and communication and change management skills

Demonstrated expertise in health care leadership including experience in facilitating, educating and providing direction for and successful completion of projects and/or initiatives is an as asset.
