Department Overview:
The Wholesale Banking Finance Group is responsible for developing and delivering financial strategy, information, and management support within TD Securities (TDS). A key function within the department is the oversight and governance related to execution and reporting of fair value, in support of TD Securities' business objectives. To ensure the accuracy, valuation, and reporting of financial instruments for financial accounting purposes, the successful candidate will work with different stakeholders to ensure that business lines adhere to policies and procedures, and controls are effective.
Job Description:
Within Controller & Chief Accountants in Finance, the Valuations Team supports TD Securities and is responsible for providing overall end-to-end accountability for the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of Independent Price Verification (IPV) and Valuation Adjustments (VA) processes. The Fixed Income Valuations team plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, leveraging robust market data sources and quantitative techniques to validate the fair value of fixed income securities across multiple trading desks and businesses.
As an Analyst in the Fixed Income Valuations team, you will:
- Assist in performing Independent Price Verification (IPV) and valuation adjustments for fixed income products, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support the analysis of pricing data, identifying variances and trends, and preparing reports for senior team members and stakeholders.
- Work with trading, risk management, and finance teams to ensure accurate valuation methodologies and pricing sources.
- Maintain and update valuation tools and databases, ensuring accuracy and consistency in price-testing processes.
- Help automate and streamline valuation processes using Python, contributing to efficiency and enhanced controls.
- Support governance and documentation of valuation adjustments, ensuring compliance with internal frameworks.
- Develop an understanding of fair value measurement principles, market observability, and pricing methodologies.
- Assist in responding to internal and external audit requests and regulatory inquiries.
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of fixed income products, including government and corporate bonds, structured products, and interest rate derivatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in handling financial data.
- Some familiarity with financial market data providers such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and broker quotes.
- Basic understanding of Independent Price Verification (IPV) and valuation adjustment concepts.
- Exposure to Python programming for data analysis or process automation is an asset.
- Knowledge of accounting principles related to fair value measurement (IFRS 13, ASC 820) is an asset.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
Additional Information:
- Pursuit or completion of professional accreditation (CFA/FRM/CPA) is an asset.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or other quantitative disciplines.
- 1-3 years of experience in valuations, product control, or risk management within capital markets is preferred.
- Prior exposure to valuation models, financial analytics, or programming is highly desirable.
