Duties: The Mental Health Crisis Intervener is an integral member of the Flexible Assertive Community Treatment Team (FACTT) that provides intensive mobile services to individuals living with serious mental illness and concurrent related complexities of mental health issues/disorders. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team the position is responsible for providing client assessments and support to individuals in establishing personal recovery plans as well as short and long-term goals. The incumbent will educate and engage clients to manage coping skills, assess empowerment strategies with clients, advocate on behalf of clients, and provide support in conjunction with the FACT team. The successful applicant will consult and work in partnership with local employers, service providers and community agencies in the provision of service to clients of the FACT team.
Qualifications: Knowledge of mental health assessment and intervention techniques; proven ability providing support and education to mental health clients and their families; knowledge of mental illness and addiction from bio-psycho social perspectives, holistic and community approaches; and demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment. These qualifications would normally be acquired through successful completion of a Baccalaureate Degree or College Diploma in the areas of health, behavioral and/or social sciences fields and experience providing mental health services to clients in the community or acute care setting.
