The Roundtable on Crime and Public Safety released the New Brunswick Crime Prevention and Reduction Strategy in 2012. One of the major goals of this Strategy is to increase the engagement of stakeholders and communities in the implementation of evidence-based crime prevention approaches. The Crime Prevention Association of New Brunswick Inc. (CPANB) is a member of the Roundtable and is the only provincial organization with a distinct mandate to create safer communities through crime prevention public awareness and education.

What you will do
The Crime Prevention Knowledge Coordinator is a shared position between the Department of Justice and Public Safety and the CPANB. Accountable to the CPANB Board of Directors and reporting to the Department of Justice and Public Safety, the Knowledge Coordinator is responsible for supporting the knowledge transfer needs of the New Brunswick Crime Prevention and Reduction Strategy, supporting the organizational goals and objectives of CPANB, and supporting the operational needs of the Crime Prevention and Program Development Branch. Coaching, mentoring, and training will be provided.
Primary duties and responsibilities of the Knowledge Coordinator include:

  • Serving as a main point of contact for crime prevention knowledge transfer activities with New Brunswick communities and stakeholders, including CPANB's members, the Roundtable on Crime and Public Safety and its working groups;
  • Stay current and consult on evidence-based crime prevention practices in New Brunswick and other jurisdictions;
  • Research, recommend, and implement strategies for increasing evidence-based crime prevention visibility;
  • Generate and implement engaging and interactive content that is consistent with the objectives and messages for CPANB and JPS through various traditional and social media platforms (brochures, newsletters, presentations, reports, email, website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.);
  • Organize, coordinate, and facilitate community consultations, meetings, public events, conferences, and workshops, including annual CPANB Crime Prevention Awards and conferences;
  • Support the efficient operation of the Roundtable on Crime and Public Safety and implementation of its Actions Plans;
  • Update the CPANB Board on a regular basis of the progress of work assignments.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases for the Roundtable on Crime and Public Safety and CPANB (membership lists, reports, etc.).
  • Identify and make application to relevant funding sources that support initiatives;
  • Track knowledge transfer activities for evaluation purposes;
  • Ensure that assigned work meets targets, budgets, and timelines, with appropriate operational and financial reporting.
  • Provide support to the CPANB Board of Directors and committees as required; and
  • Engage in other duties as assigned.

Need to have (their essential skills and qualifications)

  • University Degree in social sciences: Criminology, Sociology), Journalism, Communications, Business or similar discipline.
  • Experience with crime prevention, gender-based violence, community development, project planning and implementation, or related areas
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The following operational requirement(s) is/are also required:

  • Some travel throughout New Brunswick

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Wage
$2216.00 to $3099.00 Biweekly (Pay Band 4) based on education and experience
