Logistics Assistant - Freight

As a Logistics Assistant, your role will focus on ensuring seamless communication and operational efficiency within a dynamic logistics environment. We are seeking a Logistics Assistant - Freight to join our team in Dartmouth, NS. To succeed in this role, you must possess a positive attitude, a willingness to engage with the public, and the capacity to adapt quickly to shifting priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and negotiate rates from carriers/agents as requested by the team/manager
  • Meet clients face to face, providing an excellent customer service experience
  • Handle and process all departmental payables
  • Accurately handle and process departmental client invoices
  • Manage processing of specified Import/Export Clients
  • Update Internal System and other Departmental working sheets as required
  • Follow ISO/OHSAS procedures and requirements
  • Support business development activities
  • Provide on-call support for after-hours as required

Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in freight forwarding and/or logistics
  • CIFFA Professional Freight Forwarder (PFF) designation is an asset
  • Familiarity with CargoWise Freight Management Systems is an asset
  • Knowledge of trade rules and regulations is advantageous
