Salary Range: $56,416 - $73,324 per annum (as of July 1, 2025)

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Manager, Systems & Applications, the Senior Desktop Analyst operates enterprise wide UNB desktop and endpoint computing services in multiple environments through the efficient and effective delivery of new desktops, laptops, and mobile devices; the maintenance, support, and monitoring of existing services; providing endpoint consultation and developing approved system design. The position focuses on medium to high complexity activities, mentors team members and manages student assistants.

  • Provide timely and professional support for ITS-managed labs, desktops, and applications by troubleshooting issues, resolving escalated problems, and responding to emergency outages after hours.
  • Maintain availability, security, and performance of ITS-managed systems by installing and configuring updates, patching software, testing deployments, and documenting operational procedures.
  • Define standards and best practices for desktop system and application architecture; guide Level 1 staff and student workers, and recommend discontinuation of low-value architectures.
  • Deliver reliable new and refreshed desktop systems by creating OS images, deploying standard and specialized applications, performing quality testing, and supervising implementation.
  • Monitor and analyse desktop system and application performance using logs, alerts, technical lists, and metrics to generate reports on capacity, performance, and other indicators.
  • Mentor team members by modelling best practices, sharing knowledge, offering feedback, and identifying skill gaps or points of reliance in collaboration with Operational Managers.
  • Manage student employees by leading recruitment and onboarding, assigning work aligned with skill levels, supporting professional interactions, and supervising extended Help Desk hours.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering
  • 8 years progressive experience with systems analysis in the personal computer area operating systems and applications
  • 2 years recent experience with application packaging
  • 2 years recent experience with Microsoft Intune
