REDS RECREATION

The Fitness Assessment Centre (FAC) is operated by the Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP). The FAC delivers all occupational and fitness testing services and handles all day-to-day operations of the Living Well with Diabetes Initiative. The CEP assists with the coordination of the Silver Series and Special Population programs and is the lead instructor for these programs. The FAC is a component of the Fitness & Wellness Unit within Recreation Services.

Salary Range: $51,842 - $64,798 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Manager of Fitness & Wellness, the Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) works closely with the Manger of Fitness and Wellness, the Strength Centre and Training Coordinator and the Personal Trainers. The CEP also has weekly contact with other areas of Recreation Services including the Marketing and Communications Officer, the Membership Services & Business Manager as well as the Membership Services staff.

  • Serve as technical expert for fitness and wellness services, applying CSEP-CEP scope of practice.
  • Conduct participant pre-screening for programs and determine appropriate placement based on health history and physician referral.
  • Provide consultations to individuals with chronic conditions or physician referrals interested in fitness programs.
  • Approve participation in Silver Series programs for adults with health conditions.
  • Deliver presentations and outreach to community groups and represent Recreation Services on wellness committees.
  • Advise on equipment purchases for cardio and strength spaces.
  • Coordinate all individual and occupational fitness testing services through the Fitness Assessment Centre.
  • Conduct and organize testing for personal, medical, or job-related requirements.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and protocols for testing services based on best practices.
  • Manage scheduling, equipment ordering, invoicing, and fee monitoring for testing services.
  • Write reports for both internal and external organizations, including RCMP, NB Power, and Canada Border Services.
  • Build and maintain community and organizational partnerships to expand testing services.
  • Train and organize staff for large group or individual testing sessions.
  • Lead instructor for Silver Series and special population programs, delivering nine weekly classes for adults with chronic conditions.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based programs, including pre- and post-program assessments.
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate 15+ volunteers per term; mentor volunteers and advise instructors.
  • Provide equipment selection and participant consultations.
  • Oversee Sun Life Financial Living Well with Diabetes Initiative, serving 100+ participants.
  • Consult new participants, deliver workshops, and coordinate trainers and presenters.
  • Develop policies and procedures to manage and grow the program.
  • Maintain communication with participants and build partnerships with health organizations and professionals.
  • Promote the initiative in collaboration with Marketing and Communications.
  • Evaluate program impact and prepare reports, including financial summaries.
  • Support recruitment, training, and evaluation of part-time personal trainers.
  • Confirm certifications and professional standing of all employees.
  • Purchase equipment and supplies for fitness services.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Undergraduate Degree in Kinesiology or other health related field.
  • Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology- Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CSEP CEP).
  • 2 years experience as a CEP.
  • 1 year experience working with special populations.

Additional Strengths:

  • Additional health and fitness certifications would be considered an asset.
  • Additional training with special populations would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
