The Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries (DAAF) is seeking an individual to join the Marketing and Trade - Food Branch as the Provincial Director. This position is located in Fredericton, however, another DAAF office location may be considered.
As a member of the senior management team and reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Industry Development and Aquatic Operations, this role is responsible for leading a team of professionals to promote and support the marketing and trade of food at a local, national, international and global level. The incumbent will work directly with senior executives to provide advice and guidance on policy development and strategic planning, and to prepare briefing materials and memoranda to Cabinet. The successful candidate will have responsibility for preparing and monitoring the budget for all marketing initiatives, participating in human resources activities, and for managing and providing leadership to branch employees. They will be responsible for creating and maintaining positive partnerships/relationships with agrifood and seafood industry stakeholders; participating in market research and action planning; and developing innovative strategies for new marketing initiatives to increase local and export sales. Responsibilities also include providing direction on the implementation of the province's strategic vision for exporting seafood and agrifood products; planning and implementing complex promotional initiatives/projects for New Brunswick products in domestic and international markets; and managing social media accounts and online presence for local and international brands. They will represent the province at promotional events, at the regional, provincial, national, and international levels. and promote change as needed to contribute to the overall growth and success of the organization. Other related duties may be assigned as required.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: A University degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Science, or a related field, and a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively more responsible related experience, including a minimum of three (3) years at the manager level with human resources and financial management responsibilities. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Travel within the province and international travel is required.
SALARY: $109,647 to $123,500 per annum
