SummaryThis is a highly specialized and critical role within our organization. The Consultant, Human Resources is responsible for receipt and management of complaints of employee misconduct, including harassment and violence, discrimination, retaliation, and other workplace issues. This role requires a commitment to confidentiality, fairness and a dedication to resolving workplace issues effectively and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Receive and resolve complaints: Receive, document, respond, and manage complaints of harassment and violence throughout the resolution process lifecycle.
- Mediate and facilitate conflict resolution: Employ conflict resolution techniques and strategies to mediate disputes, facilitate constructive dialogue between parties, and reach mutually acceptable solutions.
- Provide guidance and advice: Offer guidance and advice to employees, clients, and other stakeholders on policies, procedures, and ethical conduct, promoting awareness and understanding of organizational values.
- Develop and implement policies: Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to harassment, discrimination, and other areas of concern, ensuring they are clear, fair, and effective.
- Conduct training and awareness sessions: Deliver training and awareness sessions on harassment, discrimination, ethical conduct, and other relevant topics, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Maintain confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all complaints, investigations, and other sensitive information, ensuring privacy and discretion.
- Prepare reports and documentation: Prepare detailed reports summarizing investigations, findings, and recommendations, providing clear and concise documentation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders: Work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including management, human resources, legal counsel, and other relevant departments, to ensure effective resolution of complaints and implementation of recommendations.
- Promote a culture of ethical conduct: Champion a culture of ethical conduct and integrity within the organization, fostering a climate of trust and respect.
- Bachelor's degree in law, human resources, social work, or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in relevant knowledge and principles.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Human Resources Consultant, investigator, or in a similar role, demonstrating a deep understanding of complaint resolution processes and conflict management techniques.
- Ability to analyze complex situations, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and a commitment to thoroughness.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear and effective communication with individuals from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience.
- Ability to maintain impartiality and objectivity in all interactions, ensuring fair and unbiased handling of complaints and investigations.
- Adherence to the highest ethical standards, demonstrating integrity, honesty, and a commitment to fairness.
- In the course of their duties, this person will be required to interact with French & English speaking stakeholders across Canada
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information, ensuring privacy and discretion in all interactions.
Understanding of applicable laws and regulations related to harassment, discrimination, and other relevant areas, ensuring compliance and best practices.
Proficiency in conflict resolution techniques and strategies, including mediation, negotiation, and facilitation, enabling effective resolution of disputes.
Ability to develop and deliver training programs on harassment, discrimination, ethical conduct, and other relevant topics, promoting awareness and understanding.
