As part of the Coleson Cove Generating Station's Operations team, the Plant Operator is responsible for controlling the operation of the thermal generating units and auxiliary equipment to maintain the efficient production and continuous flow of electricity to meet system operating requirements. These duties are to be conducted in compliance with all environmental guidelines and safety regulations.
Key functions include:
• Conduct operational checks of all plant and auxiliary equipment and complete environment compliance checks inside and outside the Station.
• Assist in navigating regulatory requirements, gathering necessary documentation, and coordinating with relevant authorities to secure all required permits efficiently with regards to our Lockout/Tagout procedure.
• Monitor, control, and manage all of the Station's critical systems and equipment from the control room, ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous operation which includes overseeing system performance, generator output, fuel supply, and auxiliary systems while adhering to operational protocols and safety standards.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• Power Engineering Technology Diploma
• Valid Second Class Power Engineer License
• Class 5 Driver's License
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
