The Work Planning team is responsible for safely and efficiently developing, planning, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing short- and long-term work plans to be executed by the operations team for customer demand projects, capital planned projects, distribution system maintenance work and work from outside agencies within the operating center in the most cost-effective manner.

As part of the Work Planning team, the Distribution Work Planner is responsible for developing operational plans for customer demand, capital, and maintenance work. They are also required to schedule tasks, coordinate resources, assign work to operations staff and contractors for timely execution all while tracking and reporting on the progress of projects and maintenance activities, and address escalated customer inquiries.

Key functions include:

  • Prioritize, create, schedule, assign, and monitor short and long-term work plans for planned and unplanned projects and maintenance work. Additionally, the Distribution Work Planner will be required to manage and adjust the overall work plan and resourcing requirements where necessary.
  • Communicate with all internal and external key stakeholders to obtain the necessary information to create effective work plans, report on progress against the plans and communicate any changes required to the plan.
  • Perform and support a variety of ad hoc duties, including emergency event support (storms), managing inboxes, assisting with escalations, handling special projects, and training others as required.

Our ideal teammate will have:

  • One of the following qualifications (or an equivalent technical educational credential):
    • Engineering Technology Diploma
    • Powerline Technician CQ
    • Power System Technician CQ
    • Construction Electrician CQ
  • Five years of post-graduate work experience, which must include a combination of:
    • Work experience directly related to the candidate's educational background in a technical, operational, or industrial environment, preferably within the utilities sector or a related field.
    • Work experience in work planning, resource coordination, scheduling, or forecasting in any industry.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • A demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities and adjust plans dynamically in response to operational changes.

Some of the expected working conditions include as needed training in Fredericton, occasional travel within the province, and required overtime during emergency events.

The following would be considered assets:

• Candidates with training or certification in any of the following areas: Project Management; Planning and Scheduling; and Asset Management.

• Candidates who have experience using work management systems such as SAP, or similar platforms used for planning, and scheduling.

An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
