Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Equities Global Knowledge Center (GKC) within the Global Investment Solutions (GIS) group and the office of the Global Wealth Management Chief Investment Officer by ensuring specific individual goals are accomplished in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities comply with governing regulations and internal policies and procedures.

Member of a global team responsible for equities recommendations and the performance of the GIS equity Guided Portfolios (GPs). The team's mandate spans Canadian, U.S., and international stocks. The incumbent will contribute to equity team's sector and regional allocation decisions and is responsible for providing timely and holistic equity investment advice to Scotia Global Wealth Management relationship managers

Accountabilities

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Provide expert coverage and leadership on equities.
  • Collaborate with sector experts, portfolio managers, and bank partners to determine appropriate sector and regional weights across the team's equity GPs in a manner consistent with GIS's investment style and process.
  • Create, review and/or deliver regular communications, thought leadership, research reports, educational material and ad-hoc support on equities for relationship manager partners and clients.
  • Leverage strong writing skills to translate complex investment subject matter to consumable and compliant content for use in various advisors and client publications.
  • Work closely with the broader GIS team on the creation of impactful materials such as brochures, podcasts, videos and online content equities.
  • Continually deepen knowledge on sectors, equities, regions, and markets by participating and contributing to internal investment and asset allocation meetings.
  • Establish close working relationships with relationship managers and other bank partners, actively soliciting feedback on existing guided portfolios and support materials. Respond to all inquiries and requests for support, balancing the complexity of the ask with the value delivered.
  • Support business development activities by preparing presentations and other related material for relationship managers and other partners.
  • Pursue a customer focused approach across all initiatives and continually seek out ways to enhance the Product Solutions ecosystem by working cross-functionally with channel partners and support teams.
  • Execute on special projects as they arise.
  • Ensure all tactics are developed, delivered and maintained in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • 5+ years of experience working in the capital markets with clear history of work experience in equity research / investment management.
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics, or equivalent work experience.
  • MBA and/or CFA designation an asset.
  • Detailed knowledge of financial markets and investment process / strategy and positioning.
  • Persuasive communication skills, including the ability to build credibility and trust with colleagues and clients and communicate ideas effectively.
  • Excellent writing skills with demonstrated experience producing a range of content.
  • Analytical background with experience sourcing and distilling financial data from multiple sources to deliver timely insights.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, global environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Self-starter with proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Factset, Bloomberg, and Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
