Qualifications:
- A baccalaureate prepared graduate of a health care related discipline.
- Master is preferred.
- A minimum of five (5) years? experience as a registered heath care provider is required.
- A minimum of two (2) years? management experience and one (1) year?s leadership experience within the last five (5) years is also required.
- Proven ability to supervise, support, and guide staff.
- Proven ability to work independently and exercise considerable judgment and initiative in performing duties.
- Leadership ability, strong interpersonal communication, and human relation skills.
- Successful completion of management education or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer.
- The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
- Facilitates organizational priorities at site level.
- Recognizes cultural diversity and acts as a champion to ensure patients receive culturally safe care.
- Supports broader community needs, Community Health Needs Assessment, Community Advisory Committee presence.
- Co-ordinates with local leadership team regarding operational planning and assigned projects.
- Establishes clear lines of communication with employees and community stakeholders.
- Co-ordinates site communications.
- Chairs several site specific committees including Health and Emergency Management ensuring Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Plan is implemented, monitored, and updated; Occupational Health and Safety Committee, and Leadership West.
- Supports operational standards; policies, procedures, regulations and legislation and quality assurance programs (QA) are maintained.
- Co-ordinates with local staff in maintaining a safe environment in all facilities, ensuring the application of fire life safety codes and occupational health and safety legislation.
- Supports infrastructure, equipment, patient safety, and overall facilities staffing.
- Co-ordinates the allocation/redevelopment of space in consultation with applicable departments/programs.
- Coordinates with appropriate staff regarding client flow.
- Assists in developing policies and procedures and advocates that policies and procedures are reviewed and updated as per operational guidelines.
- Plans, organizes, manages, and evaluates the Surgical Services clinical program and services regionally.
- Collaborates with the Regional Director and staff in setting goals and objectives for the clinical units.
- Monitors surgical services regionally through regular assessments and site visits.
Ensure goals and objectives are established and according to provincial direction. - Assists in formulating the annual budget for service areas and is responsible for monitoring and maintaining budgets.
- Prepares performance evaluations in accordance with the authority?s performance evaluation program including attendance management issues.
- Completes and submits reports (including month end and budget variance) and ensures quality assurance activities are completed.
