Halifax Water is hiring an Emergency Management Coordinator as we continue to expand and advance our Environment, Health & Safety Team.
What the Environment, Health & Safety Team does:
- Supports the Corporation, ensuring Halifax water complies with regulations set forth by Nova Scotia Environment, Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and the Nova Scotia Department of Labour.
- Ensures our customers comply with our Rules & Regulations.
As an Emergency Management Coordinator, you will:
- Collaborate with Halifax Water senior leadership and other staff across the organization to develop, coordinate, and implement emergency preparedness plans through the Comprehensive Emergency Management Program for Halifax Water.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals, property, and operations in the event of a disaster or emergency.
- Identify staff and emergency responders training needs in relation to emergency preparedness and response and execute training exercises and drills.
- Provide on-call duty officer support during emergency situations.
- Conduct post-incident evaluations and make recommendations for improving future preparedness and response efforts.
To do this job, you need to have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Public Safety or a related field (a Technical Diploma in a related field may be considered with other related experience).
- Five years of experience in emergency management, planning, preparedness, and responding to emergency events, while working cooperatively with various external agencies.
- Completion of formal training or Certification in Emergency Management (or willingness to obtain).
- Certificate of completion of ICS 100 - 300 (or higher)
- A valid NS driver's license.
