As part of the Distribution Vegetation Management team, the Supervisor, Vegetation Management is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering on preventative maintenance and vegetation management weekly, monthly and annual targets, along with operational and customer vegetation management needs, through providing supervision to vegetation contractors, ensuring the work is performed per specification and in a safe manner.
Key functions include:
- Detailing vegetation work orders and budget estimates for each job associated with preventative vegetation maintenance contracts and customer requests for tree trimming to ensure the tree pruning and cutting requirements are communicated clearly and completed in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner.
- Planning, coordinating and communicating clearly with the vegetation management team, contractor crews, field operations and customers the work plans to complete in accordance with the vegetation management program and field operations requirements of all work orders associated with preventative vegetation maintenance and customer requests for tree trimming.
- Supervising contractor crews by monitoring work methods, cut quality and progress of jobs, conducting equipment and work site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and contract specifications and following up on all customer issues.
Our ideal teammate will have:
- Bachelor of Science in Forestry
OR
- Bachelor of Science in Forestry Engineering
OR
- Diploma in Forestry Technology
With a degree, you will require:
- Three years of leadership experience which includes experience in planning, coordinating schedules and assigning work within a Forestry or Utility Forestry setting
AND
- Three years of work experience with Contractors, customer conflict resolution and directing the work of others
AND
- International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist or able to become an ISA Certified Arborist within two years
OR
- ISA Certified Utility Specialist or able to become an ISA Certified Utility Specialist within three years
- Class 5 driver's license
With a diploma, you will require:
- Five years of leadership experience which includes experience in planning, coordinating schedules and assigning work within a Forestry or Utility Forestry setting
AND
- Five years of work experience with Contractors, customer conflict resolution and directing the work of others
AND
- ISA Certified Arborist or able to become an ISA Certified Arborist within two years
OR
- ISA Certified Utility Specialist or able to become an ISA Certified Utility Specialist within three years
- Class 5 driver's license
Spoken competence in both English and French is required.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
