Responsibilities

This opportunity is a 12-month term position which may be subject to renewal with the possibility of permanency.

Acadia is seeking an Event & AV Coordinator to join our Events Acadia department. This position combines the responsibilities of event planning with the technical coordination of audio/visual services, supporting a wide range of events and activities across Acadia's campus.

As a member of our Events Acadia department, you'll get to work on a variety of exciting events of all sizes, and play a role in the social, cultural, and economic development in our community. Events Acadia has played a leading role in CFL's Touchdown Atlantic, Harlem Globetrotters performances, Nova Scotia Music Week, several arena concerts and productions, the upcoming Canadian Curling Pre-Trials, and more! At Events Acadia we have a passion for creating memorable event experiences for all. You'll be joining a team of doers and dreamers.

In this role, you will plan and deliver events for both internal departments and external clients, serving as the main contact from initial consultation to post-event wrap-up. You'll coordinate logistics, liaise with campus and external service providers, and ensure events such as meetings, conferences, and performances run smoothly and meet university and regulatory standards.

You'll also manage all audio/visual needs, including setup and operation of equipment like speakers, microphones, projectors, and lighting. This includes performing technical checks, resolving issues on-site, sourcing external technical assistance, and arranging rentals for equipment not available in-house.

This is a hands-on and administrative position requiring strong organizational, coordination, and technical skills, along with a client-focused approach with strong relationship-building skills. You'll work closely with academic departments, student groups, external partners, and service providers to help deliver high-quality events that reflect Acadia's values and standards.

If you're proactive, resourceful, and experienced in both event planning and AV support, we encourage you to apply and join our vibrant campus community.

  • Possession of valid Fall Arrest Training Certification is considered an asset.
  • Experience in special event planning and/or AV technical support in a professional setting.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of AV systems and troubleshooting.
  • Comfort with physical work related to equipment setup and takedown.
  • Willing and able to work evenings and weekends on-site as required for event management.
