The new Ambulatory Health Hub (AHH) will be located on Stavanger Drive, St John?s East. The AHH is approximately 95,000 square feet and will house NLHS Clinic and Diagnostic Services including Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Ophthalmology, Audiology, TJAC, Bariatric, Preadmission, Pain, ECG, ECHO, Xray, Ultrasound, MRI and Blood Collection. This location will also house other NLHS Services (like the new Urgent Care Centre) as well as non- NLHS services (including a coffee shop, day care centre, community pharmacy etc.). NLHS staff will be given priority for available childcare spaces. There is free parking on site with designated area for staff parking. The AHH will be opening in Fall 2025.

Job Summary
The Audiology Technician is responsible for providing assistance to the Audiologists of NL Health Services? Audiology Department, located at the Janeway/Health Sciences Centre site. Duties include performing hearing screening with newborns and infants; assisting with hearing screening and testing of children and adults; cleaning and analysis of hearing aids; cleaning and maintaining equipment; ordering supplies and materials; and performing other related duties as required. This position reports to the Manager of the Audiology Department.

Job Demands
By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):
Regularly lifts objects less than 10 lbs., and occasionally lifts or moves objects (furniture) between 25 ? 50 lbs.
Pushes and pulls clients over 50 lbs. who are in wheelchairs which requires strength and endurance and the use of gross motor skills.
When performing testing, regularly sits and is often required to bend in awkward or cramped positions when examining a client?s ears. During testing, which is done in a soundproof booth, there is limited opportunity to move about.
Regularly uses fine finger/precision work when preparing ear mold impressions, and cleaning and repairing hearing instruments and equipment. There is also a regular requirement to use hand tools with accuracy and control such as penlights to place sponges in a client?s ears, and when using an otoscope to look into a client?s ears.

Job Qualifications
Completion of an approved/recognized Communication Disorders Assistant (CDA) program or Audiology Assistant program is required.
Use of personal vehicle is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.

*If there are no internal or external applicants that demonstrate the required qualifications, consideration may be given to an applicant that is a graduate of an approved/recognized Physiotherapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant or Licensed Practical Nursing program, who is willing to complete on-the-job training to become an Audiology Assistant at the first available opportunity.
