The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Mining Engineer to join our Totten Mine - Mines Technical Services team in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position.

As a Mining Engineer, you will work with mine operations and technical disciplines to make sure mining operations are planned, developed and operated in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Perform and review layouts and borehole QA/QC, including development, service, and miscellaneous boreholes.
  • Initiate and validate engineering requests for new infrastructure such as sumps, electrical, and sandfill stations.
  • Lead water management efforts, including QA/QC for sandfill, updating water management documents, and supporting incident investigations.
  • Maintain and update infrastructure documentation, including drainage, pumping, backfill, and communication networks across multiple levels and orebodies.
  • Design and oversee backfill and blasting plans to ensure structural integrity and maximize ore recovery.
  • Develop and manage production schedules, stope sequencing, and development headings with input from relevant teams.
  • Support underground mining operations by collaborating with geologists, engineers, and other stakeholders on design, evaluation, and scheduling.

About You

Education:

  • Engineering Degree in Mining is required.
  • P.Eng preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role within an underground mining envi-ronment.
  • Experience in assisting with preparation of annual budgets, 5-year plans, capital planning and allocation of resources.
  • Experience with mine production and development planning.
  • Experience with MS Office, Deswik and SAP.

Skills:

  • Underground mine design, mining engineering, scheduling, and high level of understanding of underground mining activities.
  • Knowledge of engineering planning software (Mine2-4D, EPS, MineCAD, Deswik) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of cash flow modeling techniques and mineral economics is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with spreadsheet manipulation in Excel.
