Position Overview:

The Visual Designer role is responsible for designing high-quality, user-centric digital assets for homedepot.ca. This role requires strong visual hierarchy, usability awareness, and design systems thinking, contributing to the execution of customer-facing experiences across banners, landing pages, campaign modules, and promotional content. The designer works collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure consistency, accessibility, and performance across all digital touchpoints, and supports the continuous improvement of visual standards. The role is ideal for someone passionate about designing engaging and efficient experiences within a structured and fast-moving digital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver polished, accessible digital assets across homedepot.ca, including responsive webpages, campaign modules, banners, ecommerce content, and emails
  • Translate creative briefs and direction into high-quality layouts, mockups, wireframes, and final production files optimized for desktop and mobile
  • Apply responsive design principles and accessibility best practices to ensure performance across all breakpoints and screen sizes
  • Collaborate closely with developers, UX, marketing, and business teams to ensure seamless execution and alignment with project goals
  • Maintain and use established design libraries, component systems, and style guides; recommend improvements where needed
  • Support ongoing development of visual standards by contributing to digital design systems, documentation, and pattern libraries
  • Design and author content within a content management system (CMS), ensuring structure, consistency, and usability
  • Create production-ready assets, organize files efficiently, and resize/adapt visuals for multiple platforms or promotional needs
  • Source and manage imagery from internal DAM systems and stock libraries to support creative concepts
  • Design logos, icons, infographics, and supporting visuals that reinforce brand consistency
  • Participate in project briefs, creative reviews, retrospectives, and cross-functional planning discussions
  • Conduct quality checks and visual QA testing across environments to ensure flawless publishing and implementation
  • Stay current on design trends, tools, and performance-based best practices in UX, layout, and interactive design
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining creative quality

Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite; knowledge of HTML and CSS, basic front-end development an asset
  • Knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager
  • Strong understanding of user experience and user interface design principles
  • Understanding of digital accessibility standards
  • Solid illustration/design skills
  • Solid foundation in typography, layout and design
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate complex information into easy-to-understand designs and visual elements
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of visual styles
  • Knowledge of industry best practices
  • Ability to effectively articulate creative ideas
  • Experience working with and designing within content management systems
  • Strong design portfolio with at least 4-6 years of experience - e-commerce experience preferred.
  • A penchant for details and organization, including the ability to prioritize tasks, communicate progress and meet deadlines
  • The ability to effectively take direction and work both collaboratively and autonomously
  • Education Required - The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
  • Physical Job Requirements - Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Additional Qualifications – Educational diploma or degree in Design, Multimedia, or a related field
  • Adobe Creative Suite of software

  • Travel to Toronto Store Support Location Quarterly

Hybrid Work:

  • Beginning in September, role is required 4 days in office at SSC

Working Conditions:

  • Working in an office setting: computer work, camera on virtual meetings, taking support calls

Minimum Education:

  • University/College degree in a related area of study, or equivalent experience.

Minimum Years of Work Experience:

  • 5+ years' experience in graphic/digital design

Minimum Leadership Experience:

  • Previous leadership experience an asset

Certifications:

  • None

Other Requirements/Assets:

  • 1-3 year's experience with Adobe Experience Manager
  • Experience with Jira considered an asset.
  • Advanced capability in MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Bilingual (English/French) will be considered an asset
