Position: Full-Time Security Guard
Site: St. Joseph's Health Centre Guelph
Hours: Monday to Friday (1500-2300hrs)
Payrate: $20.60/hr.
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is ESA

Job Description:
• Patrol and protect the campus and provide a safe environment for all occupants.
• Provide security services for all interior and exterior areas of the campuses, including but not limited to parking lots and recreational grounds.
• Work with the SJHCG Security Manager and delegates to plan and implement various security programs within the campuses. The SJHCG Security Manager and Paladin Client Service Manger will be the main contacts for all security services.
• Escort SJHCG staff on night and evening shifts to their parked cars.
• Where applicable, operate and staff the security portals.
• Assists staff (clinical and non-clinical) units, patients, visitors, volunteers, contractors, police and other support agencies as required.
• Respond to all emergency codes, panic or personal alarms activated by SJHCG staff. Personal alarms will signal that someone onsite requires immediate assistance.
• Provide key and access control as required by SJHCG staff in accordance with SJHCG policies.
• Conducts patrols and investigations as required, completes logs and reports.
• Operate the Graphic User Interface (GUI), monitor cameras and investigate vandalism, theft, accidents, and other criminal acts that occur on SJHCG property.
• Provide parking lot monitoring and support as required by SJHCG.
• Follow-up on emergency maintenance issues and incident reporting during off-hours. Such follow up includes contacting SJHCG Building Services, on-call personnel, and/or SJHCG Site Administrator.
• Use, maintain and care for SJHCG security property including keys, identification badges, and two way radios as required.
• Conduct various ground inspections as instructed
• Participate in all applicable SJHCG emergency codes. • Where applicable, provide ongoing support and issuing of personal alarms as required by SJHCG.
• Carries SJHCG pagers and radio
• Any additional duties and assignments can be requested.
Requirements:

  1. A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  2. Proficient in English (both oral and written)
  3. Minimum 1 year of security experience in healthcare environment
  4. Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services is an asset
  5. Immunization Record (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, double Covid Vaccination, and TB skin tests 1 and 2)
  6. Able to provide a clean shaven face in order to pass a N95 mask fit test
  7. Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
  8. Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
