OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
We are seeking a Principal Architect to join the Mariner team. As the Principal Architect at Mariner, you will play a pivotal role in leading our architectural strategy and guiding the development of cutting-edge solutions for our clients. You will also lead and mentor our community of Architects, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices across the organization.
WHAT YOU LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:
Architecture Strategy and Roadmap:
- Develop and drive architectural strategies and technology roadmaps that align with client and organizational goals.
- Translate business needs into actionable architectural plans across application, data, infrastructure, and security domains.
- Align architectural decisions with business objectives and ensure that technology solutions contribute to business value.
Enterprise Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Align project-level architecture with enterprise architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to architectural teams, development teams, and other stakeholders.
- mentor and coach other architects, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to architectural best practices.
Architecture Governance & Standards
- Establish and enforce architecture governance processes to ensure compliance with architectural standards and guidelines.
- Evaluate architectural risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Conduct architecture reviews to ensure compliance, scalability, and alignment with enterprise goals.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including executives, business leaders, project managers, and technical teams, to articulate complex architectural concepts and influence decision-making.
- Collaborate with procurement teams and assess vendor solutions to meet architectural requirements and standards
Continuous Learning and Adaptability
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry standards, and architectural practices to adapt to evolving business needs and technology advancements.
People Leadership & Talent Allocation
- Lead staffing decisions for architectural roles in collaboration with sales and delivery management.
- Understand team members career goals and interests and align project assignments accordingly.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to Architects, fostering skill development and performance improvement.
- Lead performance management activities, including goal setting, feedback, recognition, and managing performance issues.
Bench Management & Team Engagement
- Manage and provide direction to team members when they are between assignments.
- Partner with People & Culture to foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
- Ensure employees feel connected to Mariner s mission and are engaged in meaningful work
- Communicate important organizational updates and gather team feedback to drive continuous improvement in employee experience.
WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT architecture, including at least 3 years in a senior or principal architect role.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing enterprise architecture strategies.
- Proficiency in one or more architectural frameworks such as TOGAF (certification preferred).
- Strong cross-domain experience (application, infrastructure, data, and security).
- Proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing technical teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience working with public sector clients is a strong asset.
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (advanced degrees and certifications are an asset).
