Job Summary:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounting Clerk is a pivotal member of the Finance Management team. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Clerk to manage our company's financial records. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial information, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, running reports, recording a wide range of transactions and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. They will be a team leader in customer service and communication support and will demonstrate a can-do attitude with a flexible approach to tasks, projects and people.

Performance Requirements:

Good physical and mental health with an excellent record of attendance. Must maintain confidentiality at all times. Show initiative, innovation and sound judgement. Must be organized and have an exacting attention to detail with an unrelenting commitment for maintenance of confidential information and customer service. Must be able to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet time sensitive deadlines. Delivers exemplary customer service skills in the context of person-centered service.

Employment Variables:

Must be available Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and outside normal office hours to address emergencies situations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous experience in accounting or bookkeeping is essential, including payables and receivables.
  • Managing transactions, including cash and cheques or handling petty cash.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and common accounting software (e.g Sage, QuickBooks).
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Knowledge in preparing financial records and reports, including for compliance purposes.
  • Experience in payroll processing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priority tasks.
  • Team oriented, good communication & interpersonal skills (oral and written).
  • Strong customer service skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process daily financial processes.
  • Communicating with vendors and clients on billing issues.
  • Assisting with tax filings or audits.
  • Preparing financial reports and expense reports.
  • Enter accounts payable/receivable data, maintain records, and create reports and financial statements.
  • Assist in preparation of financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.
  • Assist in employee payroll processing when required.
  • Completes other administrative duties (e.g. filing, photocopying, reception, etc.) related to the organization, and assist other departments as needed.
  • Ability to perform comfortably as an individual and as a team member in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
