The Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries is seeking an individual to join the Business Growth Branch as a Business Growth Officer providing advisory services to the Fish and Seafood Industry, in St George.

As a Business Growth Officer, you will work directly with industry leaders and innovators in New Brunswick, helping them navigate technical or business hurdles, providing important linkage and identifying new opportunities to enhance productivity and expand into new markets. By collaborating with the Government of New Brunswick (GNB), you will play a critical role in shaping the future of the fish and seafood industry, driving economic growth, and fostering sustainability in our region.
As a Business Growth Officer, you will:
- Foster a culture of creativity and continuous improvement by supporting companies in establishing, growing, and improving their productivity and export efforts;
- Assist with market research to identify emerging trends and opportunities;
- Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders, government agencies, and potential business partners;
- Assist entrepreneurs by providing information on financial support programs that can enhance their business;
- Work on other related projects as required.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or Biotechnology, and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience, including experience in the food sector; or a two-year related technical diploma and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience, including experience in the food sector. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application.
NOTE: In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate experience in the fish and seafood sector. Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: The successful candidate will possess the following technical competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Proficiency in electronic office software and document management tools;
- Capacity to oversee and support the planning and execution of projects;
- Ability to learn regulatory requirements and compliance standards;
- Willingness to develop an in-depth knowledge of the strategic priorities of the sector.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be prepared to: work outside of the regular work hours to attend various industry and stakeholder meetings; travel within the province and to other maritime provinces, as required.

SALARY: $57,616 to $80,574 per annum
