The Role
Connors Transfer is looking for a detail-oriented Night Shift Dispatcher for a 12-month Maternity leave contract to dispatch our drivers to customer locations. In this role, your duties will include communicating with our customers to record their requirements, planning, and adjusting routes, as well as scheduling drivers to deliver or collect freight.
To ensure success as a Night Shift Dispatcher you should exhibit extensive experience in dispatching trucks and the ability to work under pressure. An outstanding truck dispatcher is someone whose organizational skills translate into exceptional freight delivery services.
This role will report to the Director of Operations and will work remotely from New Brunswick or Nova Scotia.
Key Responsibilities
- Scheduling drivers to make freight pick-ups or deliveries.
- Communicating with customers about freight details, delivery or pickup times, and special handling requests.
- Planning pre-determined routes and accommodating route changes as needed.
- Preparing dispatch documents, and paperwork.
- Maintaining records of dispatched calls, driver routes, route changes, as well as delivery and pickup times.
- Keeping track of transportation regulations and laws to ensure that truck drivers comply.
- Monitoring truck repairs and maintenance schedules.
- Logging customer shipping schedules and complaints.
- Assist in the management of driver hours of service (ELD) and work with HR team to document violations relating to progressive discipline.
- Assist in managing driver use of satellite communication and macro input.
Qualifications
- Must have extensive TruckMate experience.
- Must have 3 - 5 years' experience as a Dispatcher.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback to employees.
- Must be adaptable and able to respond to changing priorities.
- Excellent computer skills are required, must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite, and can learn new software.
- Must be able to build strong relationships with customers and drivers.
- Must be able to work 4 days on and 4 days off from 9:00 PM - 7:00 AM
