Job Description:
Reporting to the Provincial Manager of Performance and Accountability, within the Quality and Learning System Portfolio the Statistician I / Data Analyst plays a key role in supporting data-driven decision-making across Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NL Health Services). The successful candidate will contribute to building a culture of continuous improvement through high-quality data collection, analysis, and reporting. This role supports initiatives that advance research, evaluation, and quality improvement methodologies to optimize health system performance and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
? Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret complex data using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerBI, and Cognos. Develop detailed reports and data visualizations to support internal and external reporting needs.
? Research & Evaluation Support: Apply research and evaluation methodologies to assess program effectiveness and support health system improvements.
? Statistical Modeling: Build and test statistical models, clean datasets, and conduct scenario analysis for planning and operational improvement.
? Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of datasets, analysis protocols, and reporting outputs.
? Labour Relations Data: Support the analysis and reporting of labour relations data, ensuring information is used appropriately to support strategic planning and decision-making.
? Confidential & Sensitive Data Handling: Manage sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and in accordance with privacy legislation, data governance policies, and organizational standards.
? Quality Improvement: Support the development and implementation of quality assurance protocols and improvement initiatives.
? Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments to respond to statistical inquiries and support decision-making through evidence-based insights.
? Survey & Content Management: Contribute to the design and administration of surveys and help maintain relevant web content and tools.
? Safety & Culture: Champion a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration throughout all areas of work.
Required Qualifications:
? Bachelor?s degree in Statistics, Business, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related discipline.
? Minimum of two to three years of experience in applied health research, data analytics, or a related field.
? Demonstrated proficiency with statistical software including Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Access.
? Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience preparing reports for diverse audiences.
? Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and tight timelines.
? Experience working with sensitive or confidential data and understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements.
? Satisfactory record of work performance and attendance.
? Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred Qualifications:
? Master?s degree in a health-related field.
? Experience working in health systems research or program evaluation.
