The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Health System Collaboration Division as Director of Health Emergency Management, in Fredericton.
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of Health System Collaboration, the Director is responsible for leading a team of professionals to oversee the Health Emergency Management program, working collaboratively with regional health emergency management partners and representatives of other functional areas of the health care system to ensure that the necessary emergency management preparedness is undertaken to facilitate an effective and timely response to all health emergencies regardless of cause.
As a Director of Health Emergency Management, you will:
- Evaluate and oversee strategic priorities for the Health Emergency Management Branch;
- Provide leadership, planning and operational day-to-day direction to the Health Emergency Management team;
- Provide emergency response coordination as the Director of the Department's Emergency Operations Centre whenever activation is required;
- Be available to work outside of business hours during a response to an emergency;
- Provide critical advice to the Department of Health's senior management, Minister, and the Government;
- Coordinate and oversee the development and maintenance of all components of a provincial-level health emergency management program, including:
- All-hazard and hazard-specific emergency response plans and protocols.
- Emergency plan communication, implementation, and monitoring.
- Health emergency management training and education.
- Design and delivery of exercises.
- Emergency response and exercise evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the provincial emergency stockpile management system;
- Oversee and participate as one of the 24/7 on-call departmental duty officers for after-hours emergencies;
- Lead provincial health system level committees and work groups;
- Serve as a liaison and perform outreach functions with various levels of government and other stakeholders;
- Promote best practices and provide professional advice, guidance and support relating to emergency management;
- Maintain positive relationships with a large network of internal and external stakeholders in preparedness and response activities.

Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Business, Health, Public Administration or another related field.
- Five (5) years of related experience to include experience in emergency management.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.
Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates who possess the following asset qualifications:
- Experience and/or knowledge specific to the Healthcare sector
- Experience managing staff, projects, and budgets

Salary: $76,622 to $101,920 per annum (Pay Band 6)
