Title: Senior Emergency Management Coordinator

In this role, you will:
Volunteer Management:
- Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and local roster management of volunteers across service lines.
- Contribute to workforce planning by identifying local operational needs, volunteer gaps, and internal promotion opportunities.
- Implement and lead volunteer connection strategies through regular communication, activities, and informal recognition.
- Supervise volunteers deployed for PDA services , providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to ensure readiness and compliance with service protocols
Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Service Execution:
- Lead the local execution of the PDA service line, ensuring effective service delivery in alignment with established standards.
- Maintain a state of readiness for local PDA activations and ensure adherence to PDA agreements.
- Oversee and complete all PDA-related processes and systems to support timely and effective response.
- Ensure proper management of requisite PDA supplies and assets as per the service delivery plan.
- Build partnerships with local governments, community leaders, and response organizations to enhance response capacity.
Response Readiness & Emergency Preparedness:
- Participate in and support emergency preparedness and community risk reduction activities, including annual campaigns.
- Coordinate and support the implementation of local emergency response plans in accordance with program standards.
- Support or lead the setup and operation of relief efforts during emergency responses.
- Deploy as needed in response roles and contribute to operational workforce planning.
- Engage in response debriefs and after-action reviews to enhance service quality and continuous improvement.
What we are looking for:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience and relevant qualifications in volunteer management, community development, emergency management, planning and evaluation or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to adapt knowledge and practices to varying situations or equipment
- Experience in volunteer management, including recruitment, engagement, supervision, and training.
- Experience in developing and implementing emergency response plans and conducting preparedness initiatives.
- Strong understanding of emergency management principles, disaster response protocols, and community preparedness strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and volunteer management systems.
- Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
- Skills to investigate problems and propose solutions, including interpreting information in unfamiliar areas, consulting with others, and innovating on standard procedures.
- Communication skills, diplomacy and empathy to interpret information and deliver advice, clarify stakeholder needs, offer solutions, and resolve escalations in new or sensitive situations
- Fluency in English is required; French is an asset.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required during emergency responses.
Working Conditions:
- Role will be working primarily in an office environment when not deployed to an emergency response operation.
- Some domestic travel in generally safe environments
- Some travel by vehicle may be required.A valid provincial driver's license is required.
- All roles within the Humanitarian Services (HS) team contribute to emergency response efforts directly or indirectly.
- All CRC roles are required to adapt work and priorities to support emergency response efforts, be present in person as required to support service delivery and deploy to emergency responses when appropriate and/or required (personnel availability and request for exceptions will be discussed with line management).
- For CRC roles that are assigned a function in the Emergency Relief operational structure (in field and virtual), personnel may be required to be part of an on-call roster and be available for scheduled on-call work
