The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Production Supervisor to join our T3 Mine Operation team in Thompson, Manitoba.

This is a permanent full-time position working on a rotation schedule (5/4 schedule days and nights).

As a production supervisor you will be responsible you will continuously improve the work team performance through effective use of established processes and procedures in achieving assigned objectives. This includes ensuring the completion of assigned work with consistency and accuracy.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Ensure Zero Harm to employees, the business, the environment, and the community.
  • Empower and lead the team to meet safety, production and cost targets while caring for the environment and achieving/exceeding production quality and quantity targets.
  • Focus on achieving the daily and weekly work schedules, contributing to the development of monthly and quarterly plans, and controlling inventories of consumables and supplies.
  • Lead a unionized workforce and manage a crew according to our Vale policies and procedures, including managing overtime and performing injury management.
  • Identify and correct negative special cause circumstances and escalate those outside of authority, while reporting on critical metrics and driving continuous process improvements.
  • Coach and counsel employees on the standards of behavior, take corrective actions as required, and identify vital training to meet the requirements of the area.

About You

Education:

  • College Diploma or a minimum grade 12 with equivalent experience is required.
  • Completion of a supervisor training program is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.

Skills:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, influence and collaborate with others to build effective working relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Software skills in MS Office products.
