APEX is currently accepting applications for a Purchasing Specialist to join our Aerospace Component Manufacturing Group. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, this position will be responsible for the tactical procurement of commodities, raw materials, supplies, equipment, and services to be used within the group. This position is also responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers or sub-contractors, and managing their performance. Some weekend or overtime may be required and training will be provided.
- Plan, organize, and evaluate the purchasing activities of the group.
- Maintain and develop purchasing policies and procedures to conduct strategic forecasting and ensure an adequate inventory of materials to meet production requirements.
- Conduct contract negotiations, securing the most favorable pricing while ensuring quality and specification requirements are met. This may include long-term purchase agreements for raw materials, negotiating with transportation agencies (i.e. FedEx, Midland, etc.).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing suppliers, sub-contractors, purchasing agents and to manage their performance (i.e. price, quality, on-time delivery, etc.).
- Monitor and review the performance indicators of our suppliers (i.e. pricing, on time delivery and quality, etc.).
- Produce RFQ's and Purchase Orders.
- Work within our Quality Management system to update and maintain approved suppliers list and conduct supplier evaluations.
- Effectively handle all non-conformances.
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a similar role.
- Ability to work both individually or within a team environment with a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management skills and the capability to multi-task.
- Ability to make decisions and work within tight deadlines.
