Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on Landscape Programming Coordinator to join our team for the summer. This role focuses on integrating gardening and outdoor activities into resident programming. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture, landscaping, and community engagement, with the ability to design activities that encourage resident participation in the upkeep and enjoyment of our gardens and outdoor spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and implement gardening activities and outdoor programs that engage residents in hands-on participation.
Maintain garden beds, flower pots, pathways, and outdoor seating areas in collaboration with residents.
Facilitate activities such as planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting while educating residents about plant care and landscaping techniques.
Encourage resident involvement in the maintenance and beautification of outdoor spaces, fostering a sense of purpose and connection.
Collaborate with recreation and programming staff to integrate outdoor activities with broader recreational programs.
Ensure outdoor areas are safe, accessible, and well-kept for residents' use and enjoyment.
Document resident participation and program outcomes.
Qualifications:
Secondary or Post-secondary education with studies or experience in Landscaping, Gardening, Horticulture, or a related field.
A genuine passion for outdoor activities and gardening.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage and motivate residents.
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform light physical tasks (e.g., planting, lifting garden supplies).
Knowledge of seasonal planting, plant care, and landscape maintenance is considered an asset.
