The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Specialist Engineer to join our Totten team in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position.

As a Specialist Engineer you will be responsible for safety, budget, scope, schedule and quality of projects, and have authority for decision making within the predefined scope, cost, and schedule targets. This includes the review and execution of all engineering solutions. Deliver the projects within scope, cost, and schedule baseline, while ensuring the projects are delivered within the safety and quality objectives agreed for the project.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Champion Vale's health, safety, and environmental goals by promoting safe work practices, conducting inspections, and ensuring follow-up actions.
  • Educate peers on project governance and influence internal and external teams to align with project goals.
  • Lead and coordinate studies, contractors, and project teams to meet schedule, cost, and scope requirements.
  • Oversee contract management, ensuring accurate work submissions and approval of changes.
  • Drive project delivery (e.g., Stobie) by managing documentation, mitigating delays, and implementing recovery plans.
  • Regularly communicate with project teams, recommend resource strategies, and ensure forecasting and progress reporting meet standards.

About You

Education:

  • Bachelor (or equivalent) of Engineering required
  • P.Eng designation is required
  • M.Eng preferred

Experience:

  • 8+ years of engineering experience

Skills:

  • Ability to work with various groups and gain alignment.
  • Ability to evaluate alternative options and recommend preferred solution while outlining benefits and downside risks.
  • Ability to present detailed and complicated concepts and information succinctly.
  • Good communication and organization skills.
  • Strong communication skills and development of concise documents and presentation materials.
  • A strong understanding of equipment requirements to support mine development and production operations.
  • Sustaining capital execution experience.
  • Experience in managing FEL 1/2/3 level studies and execution projects
