What you will do

Reporting to the Highway Supervisor, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following responsibilities:

  • safe and efficient operation and maintenance of a grader, tandem truck, truck with trailer equipped with air brakes and other heavy equipment.
  • involved in various highway maintenance and construction tasks.
  • performing normal maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment, preparing and maintaining work records on the operation of the assigned equipment.
  • ensure roads are safe for public use through plowing and placing sand and salt on roads.
Appointment to this position will be restricted to local area residents.

Work environment:

  • Office location: Rollingdam & St. George
  • Work holidays, weekends, shift and/or variable hours.
  • May work in adverse road and weather conditions.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade ten (10) and a minimum of three (3) years experience in the operation of heavy equipment.
  • Valid Class 1 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick with endorsement for air brakes is also required.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

SALARY:

Equipment Operator: $27.69 per hour, based on a 40- hour week.
