Position Summary: Western Health is currently inviting applications for the temporary full-time position of Secretary I within the Medical Services department. This role provides essential administrative support to the Medical Staff Leadership of Western Health, including Chiefs of Staff and Chiefs of Discipline, as well as various regional medical committees.

Key responsibilities include preparing for and attending both local and regional committee meetings, recording accurate minutes, distributing documentation, and managing any required follow-up. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently with minimal supervision, contribute positively as part of the Medical Services team, and provide coverage for other administrative assistants within the office. Additionally, this position includes responsibilities related to payroll for the Medical Services Office – Western Zone.

Required Qualifications: The successful applicant will have completed high school and a two-year office administration program or related education from a recognized post-secondary institution. This education must include training in typing, use of dictation equipment, bookkeeping, and office practices. A minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute is required, along with the successful completion of a medical terminology course. The candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities. Proficiency in the use of computers and standard software applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, TEAMS and share point is essential. Experience with minute-taking, spreadsheets, and database applications would be considered a definite asset.
