Job Summary
The Clinical Physiotherapist II is an advanced professional leadership role in the region, responsible for assessing and treating individuals residing at home in a community setting or working with clients in preparing to return home from acute care incorporating the home first philosophy into practice. This is a challenging position which requires an individual to practice independently and be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team, and across a rural geographical area including all of the Burin Peninsula. Clients have a variety of problems that impact their mobility and function. Supervision and Task Assignment to Physiotherapy Support Workers is an expectation. The Physiotherapist will be responsible to precept physiotherapy students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within the NLHS Eastern Rural Zone.

Work includes client management for the area of practice, input into program and policy development, project development, quality initiatives, planning and evaluation activities of the clinical service and the profession, participating in evidence-based practice, education and community capacity building.

This position reports to the Division Manager in the Community Support Program, receives clinical leadership from the Clinical Physiotherapist III and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Physiotherapy for professional integrity and practice issues.

Regularly requires a combination of sitting, standing and walking.
Regularly required to bend, kneel, stretch and physically lifting, pushing, pulling and/or maneuvering patient/clients with medium force.
Occasionally uses hand tools and equipment.
Time pressures and interruptions are experienced with little control over work pace.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized School of Physiotherapy is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapists (NLCP) is required.
A minimum of three years’ experience within the last five working as a Clinical Physiotherapist with adult clients is required.
Successful completion of a post entry education course in Orthopedic Level I (or equivalent as determined by NL Health Services) is required.
Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in both a one-on-one and/or group environment.
Effectively translated and communicated knowledge in the specialized area of physiotherapy practice to others.
Possessed proven leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, coaching, mentorship and training to physiotherapists, physiotherapy support workers and students.
Ability to prioritize caseload and patient needs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
Conditions of employment include the use of a private vehicle.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
