Job Description:
• Accountable for 2nd Line of Defense for validation and approval of the following Retail models:
Non-retail risk capital models used globally, that includes parameter models, risk rating models, aggregate Allowance and stress testing models using in commercial and wholesale banking.
Non-Retail PPNR models used globally for EWST/MST/DFAST programs
Economic Capital models
TD Economics models and Scenario Generation models
• Develop and build a validation team to provide 2nd LOD effective challenge and high-quality validations for a variety of models (as listed above).
• Establish and continually enhance the Model validation approaches and model development guidelines to the 1st line, that better reflect risks of the models used by the bank, while continuing to align with internal standard and evolving regulatory requirements/expectation.
• Responsible for periodic review and update of Model Validation testing procedures
• Responsible for ongoing enhancements of automated validation testing tools for non-retail models
• Engage, partner and influence various model stakeholders (i.e. model owners and model developers, model users) to effectively identify, control / mitigate model risk. This includes but is not limited to participating in various enterprise processes (such as Change Risk Assessment, New Business and Product Approval and Inherent Risk assessment), and/or new business acquisition, as appropriate
• Challenge model owners, model users, and model developers. Working collaboratively with the Model Risk Governance team, ensure that any identified issues and deficiencies are appropriately identified, reported and remediated in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Understand, mitigate and respond to regulatory inquiries. Present TD validation procedure / testing standard and MV validation during Regulators' exams.
• Create an environment that drives a high level of performance to build capability across the team.
• Engage externally (e.g. forums) to leverage insights and regulatory developments to identify, evaluate and implement best practices in model validation, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with emerging standards.
Job Requirements:
• High level of quantitative expertise, with at least 5 years of validation or model development experiences in non-retail rating, parameter, allowance and stress testing models
• Experienced in providing independent advice and quantitative support on non-retail model issues.
• Having at least 3 years of experiences in leading and developing a large team of subject matter experts on similar models
• A strong communicator for explaining complex models and risk issues to diverse stakeholders
• Adept at making balanced decisions on time and executing against demand timelines
• Able to anticipate and address changes in regulatory standards or industry practices
