Job Summary
This Clinical Physiotherapist I position is primarily responsible for the provision of Physiotherapy Services to inpatient orthopedic populations, both on and off service. The patient population may include total joint replacements, post trauma surgical conditions and other orthopedic conditions that require inpatient admission. Early mobilization, appropriate exercise prescription and discharge planning are essential elements of this position. The Physiotherapist is an integral member of the interdisciplinary health care team and is responsible for timely communication and documentation of relevant patient information. Participation is expected in quality activities of the Program within NLHS and the physiotherapy profession that contribute to a Heathy Workplace and a safe environment for patients and staff.
Weekend coverage and/or on-call services is required on a rotational basis. Supervision and delegation to Physiotherapy Support Workers is an expectation. While this position is based in the Surgery Program, it may be required to provide physiotherapy coverage to other clinical inpatient areas or the peri-operative program based on operational requirements.
The Physiotherapist will be responsible to precept physiotherapy students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within NLHS.
This position reports to the Division Manager of 6W, Orthopedic surgery. Clinical consultation and mentorship is provided by the Clinical Physiotherapists II for Orthopedics, and PT III for the site. This position maintains accountability for professional integrity issues to the Physiotherapy Professional Practice Consultant.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized School of Physiotherapy Program is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapist (NLCP) is required.
Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in a one to one and/or group environment.
Ability to direct, supervise and mentor students and physiotherapy support workers.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an inter-professional team and be able to prioritize caseload and patient needs.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
