Functional Description:

The Director of Care is a key member of the senior leadership group, providing oversight and direction of the outcomes and actions in currently four care homes we operate - two youth treatment homes in British Columbia and two adult care homes in Northwest Territories.

Task Responsibilities

As part of the leadership management team, you will oversee relevant aspects of operations within the complex care facilities Shift operates. This includes:

Oversee case management and ensure day to day actions dovetail with intended planning.

Oversee quality and timeliness of documentation standards and submissions.

Act as the primary point of contact for the programs.

Provide leadership and constant collaboration to team members with an emphasis on planning, coaching, collaborative problem-solving, empowerment, and assisting the team in meeting organizational objectives.

Oversee, coordinate and support on-call services.

Ensure completion of reporting for clients.

Ensure services are provided in a culturally responsive manner, are inclusive of families and other significant parties, are evidence-based, and best-practice oriented.

Compile and monitor statistics and make changes as a result to improve program outcomes.

Build, lead and maintain on-going, positive relationships with key government contacts.

Lead pro-active and regular communication with contracting and regulatory agencies.

Lead efforts to share awareness of programs and services with government staff.

Travel to northern sites and head office as needed.

Participate in on boarding and staff training initiatives.

An energetic self-starter who can work successfully within a team, but also doesn't shy away from the opportunity to work independently.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

High level of organization and time management skills.

Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.

A master's degree in a social services or human relations field is preferred.

A minimum of five years of experience in a leadership position in social services or child welfare.

Annual clear criminal reference check and vulnerable sector screen.
