The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Project Lead to join our Smelter team in Sudbury, Ontario.
This is a permanent position, working a Monday to Friday day shift.
As a Project Lead, you will lead projects and coordinate all activities from FEL studies through Execution. This includes management of detailed engineering design, procurement, project controls (Safety, Scope, Schedule, Quality, Cost), systems, construction support and management services for individual Projects.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Manage Capital, Operating, and Shutdown projects from planning to commissioning, ensuring readiness and alignment with company standards.
- Safety Leadership: Lead and audit safety practices (e.g., PHRs, JHAs, MOCs, lift plans), enforce safety compliance, and supervise safe on-site execution.
- Scope & Coordination: Develop scopes of work, coordinate contractors and internal teams, manage logistics, resolve contract issues, and oversee site access and compliance.
- Scheduling: Provide detailed schedules, track progress and delays, and coordinate planning with superintendent to meet project milestones.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct quality audits with contractors, perform end-state inspections, and ensure operational readiness.
- Cost Control: Monitor project budgets, review and approve requisitions for services and invoices related to projects, support funding requests, and collaborate with procurement, project controls, and contract management teams.
About You
Education:
- The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in engineering, however, candidates with a Technical or Trades discipline will be considered.
- The ideal candidate will be a certified P.M.P (Project Management Professional).
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management related role is preferred.
- Front line supervisory capability and experience is preferred but not required
