The Senior Manager SOX Office, you will be at the forefront of the Bank's compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), leading key initiatives to maintain the highest standards in Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICOFR). You are a strategic member of the SOX Office, ensuring adherence to Sections 302-404 of SOX. You will have the opportunity and experience to collaborate with senior leaders across business lines and corporate functions, liaising with the Audit Department and External Auditors to drive compliance efforts. You will be responsible to stay ahead of evolving SEC & PCAOB regulations, analyzing legislative changes and advising on their impact to the Bank. You will also lead the governance, tracking, and resolution of all Global Finance issues under the Bank's Issue Management Standard ensuring effective monitoring and reporting structures are in place.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Possess a deep understanding of Internal Control Over Financial Reporting (ICOFR) and apply this expertise to ensure regulatory compliance and financial integrity.
- Conduct research on industry best practices related to SOX control weaknesses, significant deficiencies, and material weaknesses to strengthen internal control mechanisms.
- Perform risk assessment and lead annual SOX planning activities, ensuring a proactive and strategic approach to compliance.
- Review SOX Process Documentation (PD) and Risk and Control Matrices (RCMs) with a keen focus on key controls, collaborating with stakeholders to keep them updated and optimized.
- Liaise with management across business lines and corporate functions to provide guidance and ensure timely development and implementation of new controls.
- Manage the Deficiency Management process, overseeing the identification, root cause analysis, and remediation of control weaknesses in collaboration with Process Owners.
- Compile and draft quarterly and annual reports for the SOX Executive Steering Committee, delivering key insights and strategic recommendations.
- Support the development and refinement of SOX methodology training materials and lead the facilitation of training sessions for stakeholders.
- Perform quality assurance reviews on SOX evaluations and reporting, ensuring compliance with the Bank's SOX methodology while identifying opportunities for further enhancement.
- Assist in developing a cost-effective strategy to sustain SOX compliance, integrating efforts with other governance functions where appropriate.
- Play a key role in establishing and governing the Issue Management Pillar within the Bank's Regulatory Compliance Management framework.
- Proactively oversee the management of all Global Finance (GF) Issues, adopting a risk-based approach to tracking, reporting, and escalating thematic issues as part of risk mitigation efforts.
- Cultivate a customer-focused culture, enhancing client relationships and leveraging the Bank's networks and expertise.
- Ensure alignment with the Bank's risk appetite and culture, integrating risk considerations into daily operations and decision-making.
- Foster an environment of operational excellence, ensuring adherence to business controls and regulatory compliance requirements, including responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
- Build and sustain a high-performance and inclusive work environment, driving employee engagement and development.
- Coordinate efforts with internal and external stakeholders, including support groups, Internal Audit, and control/process owners, to ensure ICOFR evaluations align with the Bank's adopted approach.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- A university degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Professional Accreditation: CPA or CA designation required.
- Industry Experience: Minimum 5+ years of audit, SOX, or related experience, preferably within Big Four professional accounting firms or the financial services sector.
- Risk & Compliance Expertise: Strong proficiency in risk management, internal control practices, and SOX compliance methodologies.
- Strategic Problem-Solving: Ability to evaluate complex scenarios, develop alternatives, and recommend solutions with sound professional judgment.
- Analytical Rigor: Capacity to assess facts critically, apply professional skepticism, and identify core issues and root causes effectively.
- Decision-Making & Execution: Proven ability to recognize and resolve problems constructively while ensuring timely and effective implementation.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to engage with staff and senior management across various levels.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong analytical skills and expertise in Excel, Power BI, or other data analytics/visualization tools to support reporting and compliance efforts.
- Adaptability & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to thrive in high levels of ambiguity and navigate a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape
