The Project Officer will support Build Nova Scotia's Project Delivery Team in managing the Healthcare Infrastructure Expansion Project (HIEP) and Essential Integrations projects. The Project Officer will collaborate with various integrated project work stream groups and stakeholders and will report directly to the Project Manager.
· Support the Project Managers through all phases of a projects development and implementation by providing general updates on project status, scheduling, project management, administrative functions, etc.
· Regular attendance on active construction sites located in all areas of an active hospital site (interior and exterior locations).
· Support Project Managers to work collaboratively with NS Health QEII Renew Infrastructure Team, NS Health Facilities Team and NS Health Clinical Operations to coordinate work alongside ongoing clinical operations.
· Support the Project Manager in ensuring all work meets applicable safety and infection control requirements. Participate in regular safety and IPAC meetings and audits.
· Prepare for and attend various Project meetings including Senior Management meetings and provide general updates on project status, scheduling, project management, administrative functions, etc.
· Coordinate training and implementation of new project management tools, such as new forms, templates and software such as BIM 360 and Procore.
· Assisting the project teams in developing, reviewing, analyzing and reporting on project schedules.
· Review and monitor the Construction Managers' Quality Process and Risk Management Process.
· Assist Project Managers in development and maintenance of risk analysis and contingency planning.
· Assist with Financial Reporting and tracking activities.
· Coordinate the issuance of tender packages with the Construction Manager, Project team and Procurement team.
· Create summary documents and presentations by collecting and consolidating technical information into easy-to-understand pictographic presentations for a variety of audiences.
· Support with meeting scheduling, note taking and other general administrative tasks as required.
· Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in construction, engineering, architecture or related field with some exposure to the construction industry. Graduate-level education in engineering or architecture is an asset. A Project Management (i.e., PMI PMP) designation would be an asset.
· Valid certification in CSA Z317.13 Infection Control during Construction, Renovation & Maintenance of Health Care Facilities is a significant asset.
· Strong business acumen with an understanding of dealing with project budgets, schedules, and technical requirements. Preference may be given to candidates with an understanding of Project Management software and SAP.
· Must have sound stakeholder management skills, the ability to adapt quickly and respond to a changing environment, and experience finding positive solutions to issues with clients and diverse teams of project consultants and specialists. Presentation, consultation, negotiation, influencing and consensus building skills are also desired.
· Experience negotiating claims, scope changes and other compliance and contractual items on projects is desirable.
