Job Description:

CUSTOMER

  • Develop and maintain good relationships with internal Finance business / specialized Finance partners and other stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate relevant / meaningful recommendations on a range of finance management issues or related operational processes to all levels within the organization
  • Ensure team collaboration with partners on business problems/issues and provide fact-based analytical advice that aligns to strategy and drives shareholder value
  • Liaise and effectively interact with internal / external auditors / regulators where applicable and ensure appropriate action is taken where required
  • Act as subject matter expert for own area and provide guidance / advice and recommendations to support dealings with internal / external partners
  • Contribute to the analysis, due diligence and execution of potential business restructures, acquisitions, joint ventures and /or divestitures within own area of responsibility and ensure appropriate Finance areas are involved where necessary
  • Develop and/or assess significant business cases / new initiatives applying expertise and ensuring criteria for own area are met (e.g., taxation, accounting practices, forecasted rates of return, evaluate outcomes, test assumptions, interface with others for appropriate input, identify benchmarks)
  • Manage / coordinate client requests for finance support and/or reports, ensuring that solutions balance and address business partner needs with overall Finance capabilities
  • Participate on internal / external committees as appropriate to provide advice / counsel to business / finance partners and/or represent TDBG interests
  • As per assigned portfolios/journeys, provide relevant Finance insights/expertise and guidance to the program

SHAREHOLDER

  • Ensure team adheres to enterprise frameworks and methodologies related to overall business management activities
  • Lead relationships with corporate and/or control functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
  • Support team in staying knowledgeable on emerging issues, trends and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts to the Bank
  • Leverage data systems and various sources to ensure team is equipped to formulate well defined solutions to solve business problems
  • Assess / identify key issues and escalate to appropriate levels and relevant stakeholders and business management where required
  • Identify, mitigate and report on risk issues per enterprise policy / guidance and ensure appropriate escalation processes are followed
  • Ensure business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets)
  • Lead relationships with business lines / corporate and/or control functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional / enterprise initiatives as an organizational or subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations
  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary
  • Manage oversight process, risk-based identification and monitoring of related risks and regulatory compliance across the supported functions, while ensuring key controls and processes are effectively managed
  • Identify / recommend / support the facilitation and/or implementation of action / remediation plans to address performance / risk / governance issues
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
  • Maintain a culture of risk based management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

BREADTH & DEPTH:

  • Generally, leads a team of Finance professionals and/or directs related processes to support a large and/or complex business
  • Requires good perspective of the finance function and the business area supported
  • Scope may include guidance and support for 1 or 2 key business lines
  • Focuses on business performance and/or conducting financial analysis and reviews with an annual time horizon
  • Undertakes and completes a variety of complex projects and initiatives in an independent manner within defined parameters and objectives
  • Interprets internal/external business challenges and the industry environment, recommends course of action and best practices to improve products, processes or services
  • Solves or may lead others to solve complex problems; leads efforts or partners with others to develop new solutions

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Accounting or financial designation preferred
  • Preferred People Management experience or other equivalent leadership experience
