About the Role

We are currently seeking a Technical Architect II to join our Enterprise Architecture team. This is a senior-level, strategic, and hands-on role responsible for designing and guiding complex IT and network solutions within a healthcare environment. Reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Architecture, the Technical Architect II will work across disciplines to design scalable, secure, and high-performing IT architectures that support provincial health services.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the design and documentation of network and infrastructure solutions including high-level architecture diagrams and detailed network data flows.
  • Design resilient, secure, and scalable infrastructure solutions that support healthcare delivery, cloud integration, and hybrid environments.
  • Define technical standards and patterns for both on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
  • Architect secure and high-performance network solutions including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, MPLS, VPN, and Wi-Fi infrastructure based on Zero Trust principles.
  • Guide the implementation of Fortinet, Cisco (including DNA, ACI), Juniper, and hybrid cloud networking technologies.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure alignment with technical requirements and standards.
  • Define and enforce security architecture including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention (IDS/IPS), data loss prevention (DLP), and VPN standards.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise identity and access management solutions including Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID, and cloud-native IAM.
  • Incorporate privacy, audit, and compliance requirements into all designs.
  • Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose.
  • Facilitate business planning sessions, risk reviews, and architecture governance activities.
  • Mentor junior architects and advise delivery teams.
  • Develop architectural deliverables including roadmaps, integration models, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain solution traceability through tools such as Lucidchart, Draw.io, or Microsoft Visio.
  • Support enterprise architecture governance processes.
  • Provide guidance and training on managing healthcare IT solutions.
  • Consult, interact, and provide mentorship to users, key stakeholders, vendors, and development teams.

About You

Your education and experience include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology is required.
  • Master’s Degree or postgraduate education in Networking, Cloud Computing, or Cybersecurity is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 7 years in enterprise networking and infrastructure architecture roles.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in designing and implementing network security. protocols and enterprise-scale IT systems.
  • Certifications (Preferred)
    • Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE), Fortinet NSE
    • AWS or Azure Solutions Architect
    • TOGAF, CISSP
  • Demonstrated leadership in infrastructure modernisation, data centre networking, and hybrid cloud deployments.
  • Experience with software-defined networking, firewalls, endpoint protection, and infrastructure automation.
  • Deep expertise in LAN/WAN/MPLS, SD-WAN, cloud networking, and virtualised environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Strong understanding of IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in producing architectural artefacts and communicating technical vision to stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with integration engines and healthcare systems (e.g., Meditech, Epic) is an asset.
