What you will be doing…
As the Academic Chair for the School of Access, Education and Language, you will:
- Lead the delivery of SAEL programs at the Campus ensuring the highest standard of quality and consistency in programing while supporting student success.
- Lead a diverse team of faculty and staff toward continuous improvement of all SAEL programs by ensuring the objectives of programs offered by NSCC are met through efficient and effective management of all fiscal and human resources, while endorsing the application of adult education principles and portfolio learning, within a safe work environment, and portfolio learning in a learning-centered college.
- Be a key member of both Campus and School teams. Campuses and Schools share accountability for ensuring a quality-learning environment and a cohesive campus management team.
- Use your established relationships in related sectors regionally and locally to inform programming and opportunities for students.
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in a field related to the School. A Graduate Degree in Education or Adult Education would be considered an asset.
- You have a minimum of 7 years of recent and progressive occupational experience in the field of Access Education. You have a minimum of five years in a formal supervisory, management or leadership role working with Faculty. Experience in your field includes formal teaching, teaching at a post-secondary level would be considered an asset.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-maill, Brightspace, Peoplesoft
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
- You have a background in adult education
- You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery, and evaluation
- You have the ability to listen to and understand the needs of a diverse team of direct reports
- You have knowledge of and experience accessing and applying student supports
