Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineering Developer II to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable data pipelines. This role requires a strong understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing principles, and cloud technologies. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of data management and processing systems, from design and development to testing and maintenance. This position requires a strong understanding of both batch and streaming data processing techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable and robust data pipelines using on-premises and cloud-native technologies (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes for ingesting, transforming, and loading data from various sources (on-premises and cloud-based).
  • Build and optimize data models for efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
  • Identify and resolve technical debt and performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Lead and manage projects with minimal guidance, determining the impact on existing data structures.
  • Participate in short-term and long-term project planning with key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, models, and processes.
  • Implement data governance and security best practices to ensure data quality and compliance.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of data engineering best practices within the team.
  • Stay current with the latest technologies and trends in data engineering.

Critical Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on hybrid cloud environments.
  • Expertise in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Proven experience with batch and streaming data pipelines using Spark, Python, or Apache Beam.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including Data Fusion, Dataproc, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Data Catalog.
  • Experience with on-premises environments (e.g., SAS, Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server) and migrating data to the cloud.
  • Experience transforming raw data into curated, actionable data elements for data-consuming teams and applications.
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
  • Experience with data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications related to cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure) or data engineering
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., MicroStrategy, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with big data volumes and cost-efficient processing.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Interest and exposure to leveraging AI for Data Engineering.
