Job Summary• Nurse Collegian IIIs will practice independently from their Schools of Nursing and will not be practicing under any regulated nursing body (i.e. CRNNL).
• Nurse Collegian IIIs are expected to practice in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
• Nurse Collegian IIIs will report directly to the Unit Manager and work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Nurse Collegian IIIs are responsible for demonstrating safe, ethical and competent practice. It is the Nurse Collegian IIIs responsibility to deliver care to the level of their education and competence. To ensure continued safe, ethical, and competent practice, reassessment of competencies may be required depending on the area of clinical practice and the length of time since completing the procedure/skill. It is the Nurse Collegian IIIs responsibility to continuously reassess their competency.
• Nurse Collegian IIIs are responsible to recognize their competence level and seek guidance where necessary.
• Nurse Collegian IIIs are responsible for seeking assistance if work assignment cannot be safely managed.
• The level of supervision required of a Nurse Collegian III is determined in collaboration with the Registered Nurse (RN) overseeing their supervision and in accordance with the guidelines outlined below.
• Procedures that are part of the year four curriculum, as well as procedures requiring advanced education and skill, that are not performed routinely by a Registered Nurse (RN), are not considered to be within the duties of Nurse Collegian IIIs.

Job Qualifications
A Nurse Collegian III is a current student who has successfully completed year three of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Program including course 3523 (preceptored learning), from an approved School of Nursing. The Nurse Collegian III will work as a member of the healthcare team and is accountable to provide competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to individuals, families, and groups.
