Job SummaryReporting to the Financial Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the analysis of all financial transactions recorded in all operational areas of Finance including accounts payable, accounts receivable, client pay, payroll and general ledger. The incumbent ensures that the financial information from all operational areas is accurate and timely. The incumbent may also be involved in various projects from the financial management perspective and participate in internal control reviews as needed.
This position is a resource for the organization's management team and will assist managers with the review of the expenses in their various programs of responsibility by providing additional information and analysis thus assisting with the manager's responsibility for the stewardship of the organization's financial assets.
Job Qualifications
Education
Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration Degree is required.
Master's Degree would be an asset.
Member in good standing with the Certified Professional Accounting Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPANL)
Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience within the last five (5) years in financial management is required.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Thorough knowledge of financial accounting for Health Services and knowledge of the MIS Guidelines.
Knowledge of the Meditech financial system.
Demonstrated knowledge of current financial services practices and processes, and broad knowledge of internal financial controls is required.
Demonstrated strong organizational, decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (MS Word & Excel) and computerized accounting techniques/practices.
Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize work in a changing environment.
Ability to be self-motivated and work both collaboratively and with a high degree of independence and initiative.
