The East Hants Sportsplex is a vibrant hub for sports, recreation and community events. Our facility features two arena ice pads, three year-round artificial turf fields, a Café, and three versatile multi-purpose rooms ready to host a wide range of activities. Join our dedicated team of experts in sports, recreation, customer service, hospitality, and facility operations, in an exciting community-focused environment.

We are recruiting for an Operator (Ticketed or Apprentice) to join our team on a permanent basis. Our Operators are responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the East Hants Sportsplex buildings and properties, maintenance of the ice rink, preparation of dressing rooms, and ensuring ice plant equipment is checked and maintained. Occasional support may be needed at the East Hants Aquatic Centre for Pool Operations.

What you can offer:

  • 2nd Class Refrigeration Ticket or willingness to complete course and 2000 required hours.
  • Past experience in arenas, refrigeration plants, and/or facility operations or willingness to learn.
  • Mechanically inclined, experience in building maintenance, heating, ventilations or air conditioning (HVAC) would be an asset.
  • Current WHMIS, CPR/First Aid certification, or a willingness and ability to successfully complete training
  • Pool Operator Certification an asset, or willingness to obtain
  • Clean Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry check
  • Ability to do physical work, including lifting up to 30lbs.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week in a shift rotation, around the operational requirements of a sports facility, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends, and on-call emergency maintenance work.

Hourly rate: $23/hour apprentice, $26/hour with ticket
