Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking an experienced individual for the key position of Business Development Director. This position reports directly to the Facility's senior leadership and is suited to a results-driven leader with a passion for sustainable growth and innovation. The successful applicant, based in Port Hawkesbury, will be responsible primarily for enhancing the company's success through new ventures, and will also focus on strategic partnerships and company representation in various community and sector-based organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of Business Development opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships, and collaborate with Owners, Facility leaders and staff.
  • Actively engage with local and regional community and stakeholder groups.
  • Manage issues and opportunities within a complex work environment.
  • Utilize sound judgment to anticipate, communicate, and navigate challenges.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Post secondary degree in Business, Forestry, or Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, preferably within the forestry/forest products sector.
  • Track record of strategic thinking, strong negotiation, and effective communication that has resulted in growth.
  • Have worked in and thrived within a nimble fast-paced evolving sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • History of presenting to senior leaders and key stakeholders.

Skills/Competency Requirements:

  • Strives for performance excellence and holds themselves and others accountable for decisions and actions.
  • Has solid knowledge in a wide variety of forest products and manufacturing areas.
  • Proven ability to handle complex situations with strategic foresight.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills to articulate challenges and solutions.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making aptitude.
  • Demonstrated collaborative work ability.
  • Self-starter with a proven track record of driving growth and securing strategic partnerships.
  • Proficiency in creating/reviewing financial plans, and ability to navigate complex legal/regulatory processes.
