The Senior Development Officer, Corporate Giving is part of the Philanthropy Corporate Giving Team. This role is responsible for implementing fundraising strategies and initiatives to generate the raising of philanthropic revenue. This involves proactively engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and stakeholders, providing tailored fundraising solutions to enhance engagement and maximizing financial support or implementing retention strategies, engagement strategies and initiatives. This role will support the planning, execution, and evaluation of fundraising efforts including campaigns, donor recognition programs, and events to meet revenue targets. Additionally, this role collaborates with internal teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities while ensuring compliance with ethical fundraising standards and best practices.
In this role, you will:
- Be accountable for soliciting corporate gifts within a range between $75K to 300K.
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies, campaigns, and initiatives to generate philanthropic revenue in alignment with the Canadian Red Cross's mission, values, and operational goals.
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with corporate prospects through research, analysis, moves management, and donor segmentation, and developing tailored engagement and solicitation strategies with a focus on donor retention and pipeline growth.
- Plan, execute, and evaluate fundraising initiatives and campaigns, donor engagement programs, recognition and retention activities, and events to strengthen donor relationships and meet revenue targets.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis to identify funding opportunities, monitor industry trends, and provide recommendations to optimize fundraising efforts and grow new funding streams.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and senior leadership to ensure alignment between fundraising efforts and organizational priorities.
- Track and analyze fundraising performance metrics, maintaining accurate donor records, and adjusting strategies as needed to achieve revenue goals.
- Adhere to ethical fundraising standards, donor privacy regulations, and industry best practices to maintain donor trust and organizational integrity.
- Provide guidance and support to staff and volunteers involved in fundraising initiatives, ensuring effective campaign and event execution.
What we are looking for:
- Minimum of 4-7 years experience and a 3-year college diploma or university degree in philanthropy, fundraising, business administration, marketing or related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in philanthropy and fundraising, including corporate partners.
- Proficiency in standard computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite) and fundraising databases.
- Strong knowledge of fundraising principles and best practices, including retention and recognition strategies.
- Ability to identify complex problems, analyze interrelated factors, assess and mitigate risks, and develop solutions using specialized skills.
- Communication and influence skills to gather perspectives, understand needs, and present information to reach consensus, often in somewhat sensitive situations.
Working Conditions:
- Work will be primarily in a hybrid work arrangement.
- Requires concentration, attentiveness, and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to changes in work priorities and respond to time sensitive needs
- Regular exposure to computer screens and keyboards while sitting at a desk for extended periods.
- Occasional overtime, evening, or weekend work is required to meet project deadlines, support meetings/events, or meet operational needs such as disaster appeals
- This position will require occasional travel to attend meetings/conferences, support operational needs, and respond to emergencies.
- Ability to adapt and realign one's own role and that of team members to contribute to a crisis/emergency situation.
- Participates in disaster planning, preparation and response as needed.
- Provide disaster relief and/or emergency field operational support in a large-scale emergency, where staff numbers are compromised, or additional resources are required
- The majority of the work is performed in an environment which is mostly clean and comfortable.
