Job Description:
The Manager, Control & Business Insight Specialist within Enterprise Stress Testing, Treasury and Balance Sheet Management, will have the responsibilities of using models to forecast Pre-Provision Net Revenue (PPNR) and balance sheet for the wholesale banking segment, including the trading portfolio and non-trading businesses such as Corporate and Investment Banking. The financial models are primarily used for stress testing purposes to support the Bank's capital planning and assessment process.
Stress testing is a critical component of the Bank's risk management practices, which informs and enhances its ability to manage stress conditions and assess its capital adequacy level. It evidences TD's ability to withstand significant market stress by continuing to provide banking services to customers. We participate in Enterprise-wise Stress Testing (EWST), Dodd-Frank Act Stress Tests (DFAST), Macro-economic Stress Testing (MST) and other enterprise or region-specific programs.
This role requires financial analysis skills, experience in control functions and understanding of wholesale banking businesses. You will be working with a variety of partners and stakeholders across the Bank, including the line of business (LOB), finance, risk and governance.
Primary Accountabilities
- Establish the ad-hoc stress testing processes in wholesale to support the Bank in managing emerging risks and uncertainties.
- Responsible for developing scenario-appropriate estimation approaches for various ad hoc stress testing programs, leveraging the existing stress testing models & processes.
- Analyze the results, understand its reasonability, and prepare presentation material of the ad-hoc stress testing scenarios for wholesale bank.
- Be familiar with the model suites and act as a standby support to the execution team in cycle of formal stress testing programs.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of the team's control procedures.
- Responsible for the oversight of control execution and evidence of controls for stress testing team's processes, and support 1B, 2nd & 3rd Line of Defense in their review of the controls.
- Responsible for various control initiatives and ensure compliance with the Bank's standards and practices, including EUC, data, non-model.
- Lead or support projects or ad hoc initiatives to investigate issues and identify solutions.
- Continuously strive for improvement and automation in the processes.
- Provide support to governance activities as required.
Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
- Demonstrated skills in communicating complex issues and financial analysis to a diverse audience
- Strong accounting or finance background, with the ability to read, understand, and interpret balance sheets and income statement
- Prior experience in financial reporting, planning and forecast, control functions
- Ability to manage deadlines, multiple tasks and adapt well to changing priorities
- Must be curious and analytical to understand new concept quickly
- Working knowledge of SAS and / or Python
- High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Experience in supporting wholesale businesses and knowledge of wholesale products and processes
- Knowledge of wholesale stress testing processes an asset
- Proven ability to work in a team, provide training, fostering a positive and rewarding work environment
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience
